Xavier Delcour (born in 1970) is a fashion designer born in Tournai, Belgium. [1]

His passion for rock culture and night clubbing, exhibited in his black clothing, was unanimously approved by the press and professional circles. [2]

    Early Life

Xavier's father was a truck driver and his mother was a lace maker. He mentions that his mother, during the 1960's, enjoyed fashion and used to dress up to date. [3]

He used to express himself through clothing at an early age, mentioning that people used to laugh at him when he was 10-11 and that a few years later, people wanted to dress just like him: "When I was 10-11, I was called all the names. But it lasted until I was 14 when I became someone they wanted to look alike. It turned around. And now my revenge is even bigger: people wear my clothes." [4][5] he states in an interview alongside Brian Molko (𝐿𝑒𝑠 πΌπ‘›π‘Ÿπ‘œπ‘π‘˜π‘’π‘π‘‘π‘–π‘π‘™π‘’π‘  β€œπ΅π‘Ÿπ‘–π‘Žπ‘› π‘€π‘œπ‘™π‘˜π‘œ π‘Žπ‘›π‘‘ π‘‹π‘Žπ‘£π‘–π‘’π‘Ÿ π·π‘’π‘™π‘π‘œπ‘’π‘Ÿ - π‘šπ‘Žπ‘ π‘π‘’π‘™π‘–π‘›π‘’ π‘“π‘’π‘šπ‘–π‘›π‘–π‘›π‘’β€, 𝐷𝑒𝑐’00).

Xavier mentions that he was inspired by The Smiths and that he belonged to the first generation of rock inspired stylists. [6]

He started making clothes for himself at the age of 17. [7]

When Xavier was 18, he left his home town to take fashion design classes at La Cambre Modes in Brussels.[8]

In 1995, he was awarded the prize for the best menswear collection at the European Festival for Young Designers in Hyères and launched a range of accessories. The 1995 collection was his first collection, it was named "Minimal night, maximum strass". [9]

His first prΓͺt-Γ -porter collection for men, called Black Diamond was presented in Paris in 1999. [10]

He presented his first womenswear collection in 2003.[10]
